County of Fairfax
Taking on this project was truly a capital idea. It involved working in Fairfax County, a suburb of Washington, DC, and included the construction of a new five-story, reinforced concrete-framed courthouse, along with some renovation of the existing courtrooms. Total project gross square footage is approximately 546,000 (316,000 SF of expansion and 230,000 SF of renovation). Phasing requirements were put in place to minimize disruption to the court system. In addition to the complexity of the phasing, working in the DC area can be one of the most difficult areas to work in the country, due to traffic, a taxed labor force, and the difficulty of material delivery in the area.
I want to express my sincere appreciation to you [Stephen D'Angelo] and John Sebastian for your leadership in bringing this important Fairfax County project to completion. With your commitment to Partnering we have completed the Court House expansion that each of us can be justifiably proud. There are many individuals from your organization that played key roles during the construction of the project. To you and to them I express my congratulations and best wishes for future success of your organization.
