dck worldwide understands the special requirements needed to work on large projects in remote areas where resources are often limited and access difficult. The demands of logistics, workforce integration, cultural differences, training, social factors, and multi-language challenges are familiar to us. The employees of dck international, LLC have completed projects in numerous Caribbean locations, including the Bahamas, Nevis, Anguilla, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Our employees have worked throughout the Caribbean since 1995. We are able to maintain a local flavor to our construction services regardless of the project location. dck does this by utilizing fully-staffed regional offices and projects, and partnering with the local community and our clients in the area. We pride ourselves on our ability to integrate with diverse cultures, always working safely and efficiently with local labor and government. Our current work in the Caribbean includes managing the fast-track construction renovations of the Cap Juluca resort on Anguilla. In addition, in Puerto Rico, we are executing three separate indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) multiple award design-build construction contracts at Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

In a joint venture, served as prime contractor for the expansion of the largest resort/casino complex in the Bahamas. This expansion doubled the room count to nearly 2,400 and included the construction of the East and West Towers, each with a maximum of 23 floors, and a bridge linking the towers that featured a 5,000 square foot Imperial suite.
As prime contractor, responsibilities included the installation of all of the ornamental/sculptural elements in the exterior design. This included 27-foot-high plastic seahorses, eight-foot marlins placed on top of parapet roofs, and seashell archways. In addition, we had to overcome a major logistics challenge in completing this project. All material was made in the U.S. and shipped by ocean vessel from Florida to Nassau; loaded onto barges that ferried cargo to Paradise Island, Bahamas, and transported by trucks to the job site.

This design-build project was procured under a Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC). As the prime contractor, we managed the entire project from proposal to commissioning, and coordinated the architect’s design to ensure compliance with the Owner’s requirements and to maintain the budget.
The Joint Task Force (JTF) Complex involved the construction of a two-story structure, on a secure site, that was divided into two distinct working areas – the Sensitive Compartmented Facility (SCIF) and the Criminal Investigation Task Force (CITF). The new facility provides office, conference, and support space, along with sophisticated telecommunications and audio-visual capabilities. Additionally, we established a berthing camp for approximately 100 personnel prior to the start of construction, which was then turned over to the Government following completion of the project for future use. A modification added the AV-34 Building project to the Task Order that involved demolition and conversion encompassing offices, conference rooms, a courtroom, deliberation rooms, and holding cells, all designed to meet SCIF standards. The project received a Certificate of Appreciation in 2004.
