The majority of the facilities were existing Navy/Marine buildings that were either vacant or under-utilized. Each building consisted of a data center room and an administrative area. Features of each server farm included: multiple state-of-the-art fire protection systems, leak detection systems to protect computer equipment, redundant electrical systems with emergency generator back-up, and sophisticated air conditioning systems to precisely control space temperatures and humidity.
Extensive pre-construction services were provided to convert the buildings into server farms, including design review, budget development, equipment coordination, and scheduling. Construction responsibilities included upgrading the existing structures and performing complete interior fit-outs.
