NAME: Clapp, Langley, Crawford Infill Addition
LOCATION: Pittsburgh, PA
OWNER: University of Pittsburgh
Construction management services, including commissioning coordination, for the new Infill Addition at the University of Pittsburgh, which serves as the new research laboratory for the Biological and Neurological Sciences departments. The addition is a 50,000 sf, five-story building with a small partial basement and penthouse structure on the roof. The addition is structurally steel framed with pre-cast facing panels at the lower level and both insulated metal panels and limestone panels from the first floor through the penthouse. Substantial coordination and scheduling efforts were necessary on our part due to the urban location and adjacency to occupied educational spaces. Because of our past experience and unique qualifications, we basically served as an extension of Pitt’s facilities staff. Along with applying our proven construction management methods, dck employees exercised all University construction practices and procedures to work in sync with them.

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH
OWNER: University of Cincinnati
Prime contractor and lead coordinating contractor for six other primes for the rehabilitation of the existing MSB, construction of a new CARE addition, and incorporation of the building entry and landscaping of the Eden Quad.
Part of the University’s overall master plan, the CARE building and MSB renovation will add 240,000 gross sf of labs and educational space to the academic health center campus project. Work included demolition, excavation, structure, finishes, both interior and exterior, and building skin.
Work on the eight-story MSB building, which has remained occupied during this project, includes architectural rework and upgrading of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, and data systems. Adjacent to the MSB are the two eight-story towers that make up the new CARE facility. We were also responsible for commissioning coordination for this LEED-designed project.
