The expansion project at the Atlantis more than doubled the room count with construction of the East and West Towers and a bridge, housing a 5,000 SF Imperial Suite, that linked the two. Each tower has 23 floors providing sweeping views of the pools and ocean. The harbour and terrace are just steps away from the many resort shops, restaurants, casino, and entertainment. As the prime contractor, the dck worldwide project team was responsible for installation of the plaster, gypsum and metal stud interior as well as installation of the EIFS and ornamental elements on the exterior. Scheduling and “just-in-time” deliveries were crucial for the successful completion of the project due to the lack of adequate lay down areas. Close coordination and sequencing was of the utmost importance since all material was made in the U.S. and shipped by ocean vessels to Nassau, then ferried by barges to Paradise Island, and finally transported by trucks to the job site. The project team was also instrumental in training and hiring local citizens for the interior installations on this Bahamas construction project. Supervisory personnel donated their time to the Bahamas Vocational Training Institute to develop and teach a 15-week dry wall installation class in the evenings; offering employment to the graduates of the class.
