The site of the 520 Megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant is located five miles west of the city of Blythe. The main power facility for this energy construction project occupies twelve-acres of land on a larger seventy-six-acre parcel of property. The Blythe Energy Project was comprised of two advanced technology combustion turbines, one steam turbine, and supporting equipment and will burn natural gas only to generate electricity - a combination of electrical energy produced from gas turbines with electrical energy produced from steam turbines. Major equipment in this plant included: Two 16kV 170 MW each gas turbine generator sets and auxiliaries; One 16 kV 180 MW steam turbine generator set and auxiliaries; Triple pressure heat recovery steam generators and exhaust stacks, each equipped with emissions control systems to meet EPA standards; Auxiliary and ancillary equipment including cooling towers, administration and support buildings, water systems, fire systems, and related support equipment. The Blythe Energy Project is a critical component in the long-term solution to the California energy crisis. Learn more about our Energy Solutions and projects focused on solar/energy.
