This project involved the renovation and general face lift of the historic 196,000-square-foot Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City that entailed two construction packages focused on the East Hall.  The Hall is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks and was the largest column free space in the world when originally completed in 1929. In one construction package, the barrel vaulted ceiling was replaced, preserving the architectural integrity of the building.  This Atlantic City construction project also included the replacement of a significant portion of the electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, as well as a new theatrical rigging system for sound and lighting equipment and a scoreboard. In a second construction package, the existing seating was demolished and a new structural steel and precast concrete seating arena was placed inside the existing hall.  The new seating holds up to 12,000 spectators available in configurations for events such as ice hockey, boxing, basketball, and concerts. The project focused on upgrading the facility into a Special Events Center capable of hosting events ranging from concerts and the Miss America Pageant to various sporting events.  The Hall also served as the home for a minor league ice hockey franchise, the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.
