The Venetian, built on the site once occupied by the legendary Sands Hotel, features full-scale romantic icons of Venice, two towers totaling 3.2 million-square-feet in luxury suites, 750,000-square-feet of retail/restaurant space, a 200,000-square-foot casino, and one of the largest private convention centers in America totaling 1.6 million-square-feet. As the frame contractor, the dck worldwide project team set a domestic record with a monolithic concrete pour of 20,590 cubic yards. The massive pour took 20 hours to complete and involved the coordination of 125 concrete trucks and roughly 300 workers. The pour that covered a 100,000-square-foot area, measuring as much as 8-1/2 feet deep, served as the foundation for construction of the new thirty-six-story high-rise. Subsequent to the original contract, additional contracts were awarded to the team that included concrete and foundations for the Retail Annex; concrete foundation for the Campanile Tower; placing the replica of the Rialto Bridge that carries three people-movers to the casino; the 60,000-square-foot Expo Center addition; construction of an electrical substation; and construction of a 1.2 million-square-foot parking garage with a pedestrian bridge.
